You must win all battles to gain freedom or find enough money to buy your way out. No matter which path you choose, you'll need money. To earn it, you'll need to fight in the arena and use your skills to gain more. To learn new skills, you need experience. You gain this experience over the course of the game. After the battle, you'll need to sleep or eat something to regenerate your health.
